Meet the Doctors

Lance D. Bailey, DDS

Lance D. Bailey, DDSLance Bailey attended Weber State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree, going on to receive his D.D.S. from Marquette University. In 2011, Dr. Bailey continued to further his education by completing an IV sedation program through UCLA.

Dr. Bailey began his dental career as an associate in a Gladstone dental practice before settling in Portland in 2006. In 2009, he was fortunate enough to have to opportunity to expand Downtown Dental Care by opening a second office in Clackamas.

Dr. Bailey’s hobbies outside of dentistry include golf, riding motorcycles and fly fishing. He tries to maintain a healthy balance of work and play. In his time off, he enjoys spending time traveling with his family.

Dr. Bailey continues to evolve and stays up to date on all aspects of his dental career through continued education. He has furthered his education in following areas of dentistry: periodontal surgery, dental implants (placing and restoring), pediatric dentistry, dentures, laser dentistry, minimally invasive dentistry and CEREC one-visit crowns. Dr. Bailey maintains memberships in the The Academy of General Dentistry, Crown Council & PABA.

Dr. Bailey has been fortunate enough to give back to the community by volunteering with Donated Dentistry. This clinic is for uninsured persons to come and receive dental care at no cost, which has been a very rewarding experience. In the past, Dr. Bailey has also been involved with The Portland Aids Walk, Race for the Cure, Friends of the Children, UNICEF, and Pride Northwest. He also sponsors The Drillers, a local softball team.

Dr. Lance Bailey enjoys all aspects of dentistry. He finds great satisfaction in working together with patients to provide the best treatment to improve their overall oral health and self confidence. He loves building great relationships with patients and instilling the confidence in them that each visit will be a personalized, comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Dr. Kirk Christianson

Dr. Kirk Christianson was raised in sunny Los Angeles, California as the oldest of five children. He earned his Bachelors degree in Molecular Biology from Boise State University (Go Broncos!) before receiving his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2003 from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Dr. Christianson began his dental career with a two-year residency with the National Health Service Corps residency in Billings, Montana. This experience allowed him to provide not-for-profit dentistry to local residents in a large health clinic, something he continues to see as important. Kirk chooses a few cases per year to treat from start to finish at no cost to the patient.

It was during his residency that Dr. Christianson developed an interest in oral surgery. He has completed hundreds of hours of additional continuing education in
implants, third molar(wisdom teeth) extractions, hard and soft tissue grafting, and sinus surgery. After his residency, Dr. Christianson moved to the Pacific Northwest where he worked for Kaiser Permanente before starting his own practice in Vancouver, Washington in 2006. He sold his practice and became a member of the Downtown Dental Care team in 2011.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Christianson has two sons from his first marriage, Joey, 17 and Matthew, 15 who live with him full-time. He re-married in July to his wonderful wife Chelle, a native to the Pacific Northwest, and the family is happily expecting a daughter (Claire) this spring. Kirk enjoys scuba diving and is an ASA-certified sailor. Downhill skiing is another family favorite; however, his boys tell him he is too slow and falls too much (it didn’t snow very often in LA). He and his wife Chelle enjoy riding off road motorcycles in between the seasons. Recently his favorite track was shut down by “The Man“ and he is looking for another place to ride. He and his family are big fans and annual season ticket-holders for the Blazers, however he admits to being a huge Lakers fan (his father took him to watch the Lakers play at the Forum as a kid, where he saw Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Scott and Cooper work pure perfection on the court–he also hates the Celtics).

Dr. Christianson enjoys all aspects of dentistry and cares deeply for his patients. He loves the self-confidence and joy that comes when someone gains the smile they’ve always wanted. He understands that the dental chair can be a nervous experience for many, and feels it is important to take the time necessary to make every appointment a personalized and comfortable experience.
